TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida animal shelter is making a plea for help after someone left a paralyzed dog on its doorstep along with a heartbreaking note saying the owner could not afford to pay for surgery to ease the dog’s pain.
“Genie” was left on the doorstep of the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. A handwritten note was left with the small brown and black dog.
“Please help my Genie. Genie (her name) is paralyzed from I believe her hips to her hind legs. I tried to manage her pain with medication from her vet but they only ease her pain and she needs surgery. I cannot afford so I ask that the Animal Health Center heal her and find her a loving forever home. Thank you,” said the note.
The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is on a mission to help little Genie.
“We will care for Genie. We will do our best to heal her body and mend her grieving heart. We will give her a second chance and find her a loving home,” said the organization in a Facebook post.
