Attorney General’s office to handle review of case involving Shawnee County Sheriff’s detective

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – The Kansas Attorney General’s Office announced Thursday they will review the investigation of  a Shawnee County sheriff’s detective who may have falsified information in charging affidavits.

Attorney General Derek Schmidt’s office said they will determine whether any charges will be brought based on the investigation involving Detective Erin Thompson.

Thompson was placed on administrative leave back in March.

The Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office requested the attorney general’s office handle the matter.

No charges have been filed at this time. Schmidt’s office says criminal charges are merely accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

No further information is available at this time.
