TOPEKA (KSNT) – It was announced last October that a professional baseball is coming to Topeka, and today it was made official. The ribbon cutting ceremony made it complete that the Topeka Train Robbers will be the Topeka representative in the independent Pecos League.
The players, sponsors, as well as Pecos League Commissioner Andrew Dunn were in attendance to celebrate the new program.
“Topeka had tried several years to have a baseball team,” Dunn said. “That would’ve required them to build a new stadium. Our league would work because they can use existing infrastructure and it’ll compliment the baseball that’s already here.”
The Train Robbers will be playing their home games at the Bettis Family Sports Complex.
