Applebee’s makes restaurant changes

TOPEKA, KAN (KSNT) — A once popular restaurant chain with strong Kansas City roots is hoping you will once again be eating good in the neighborhood.

Slipping sales has led Applebee’s to try something radical. Wood-fired grills have replaces the gas ones in every single location across America. It’s a $75 million move to making certified USDA steaks hand cut in house the star of the new, streamlined menu.

The company’s CEO says this goes beyond a few new menu items or a limited time offer. It’s a total culinary makeover that also includes hand cut bone in pork chop, cedar grill salmon and wood fried grilled chicken breast.
