TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) — The Topeka City Council has a long night ahead of them and a big decision to make. All surrounding the open city council seat.
The city council will meet Tuesday night to interview applicants for the open city council seat.
Six candidates have filed for the vacant city council seat and will be interviewed. The Topeka City Council will meet at 6 p.m. for those interviews.
They then will vote to fill the seat that once belonged to former Councilman Jonathan Schumm, who resigned last month. Jonathan and his wife, Allison Schumm were charged with child abuse back in November. As a part of a Diversion Agreement”reached with the District Attorney, Schumm stepped down from his city council position.
The six candidates will have to answer ten questions the council has already posted.
Les Parrish, Anthony Emerson, Edward Fitzpatrick, Lorean Williams, Zach Haney, and Cristina Fischer have all applied.
