Third suspect arrested in Topeka shooting at Ripley Park

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – The Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed the arrest of a third suspect involved in a shooting last week in Topeka.

The DA says 29-year-old Tory Demetrious-Leve Vaughn was picked up Monday as a suspect in the shooting on the night of May 17, 2016 in the 300 block of SE Lawrence. He was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on charges of on charges of attempted first-degree murder and interfering with a law enforcement officer.

The victim, identified as 29-year-old Tony Martez Dennis, of Topeka, was transported to a local hospital and is still in critical condition.

Two other suspects were booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections last week. Malik T. Yates, 23, of Topeka and Joshua Y. Valdiva, 28, of Topeka. Yates was booked on charges of interference with a law enforcement officer, battery, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and attempted second degree murder. Valdivia was booked on charges of criminal possession of a firearm by a felon, interference with a law enforcement officer, aggravated robbery and attempted second degree murder.

Police are continuing to investigate this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at &85-234-0007.
