Valley Falls plans for continued success at 2-1A state tournament

VALLEY FALLS (KSNT) – The Valley Falls softball team beat McLouth 3-1 in the regional championship game to advance to the Class 2-1A state tournament.

“Just everybody calling you, texting you, Facebook is going crazy, just the whole town is just excited,” said Valley Falls softball coach Mike Glissman.

“I was so happy, my mind went completely blank, I didn’t know what to think for the first couple minutes,” said sophomore second baseman/pitcher Allie Kearney.

We’ve been kind of banging at the door for the last couple years and going up against McLouth two years ago, so for us to break through against them, it was a relief,” said Glissman. “They’re a very good team and we were very excited to win.”

“I was speechless,” said Kearney. “All I knew was just to run in the middle and get in the big group of people cheering.”

“We’re not just going (to state) to make an appearance,” said Glissman. We want to win it.”
