TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office have identified the body found in Lake Shawnee in Topeka on Tuesday.

Sheriff Herman T. Jones says the name of the person found is 56-year-old Robert D. Cheniae of Topeka.

The Sheriffs office says that around 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday the Shawnee County Emergency Communication Center received a phone call from someone reporting a dead body at the lake.

The person was reported fishing along the west bank near the north end of Lake Shawnee when Cheniae’s body was found in the lake.

The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office is currently in charge of the investigation.

No foul play is suspected at this time.

It is not clear how long Cheniae’s body had been in the water.

This is the second drowning this year at Lake Shawnee. On April 4, 2016, the body of 77-year-old Jack Shutt from Topeka was found at the lake. Foul play was not suspected in this incident as well.
