Deadly nightclub shooting in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – Police in Orlando, Florida say at least 20 people are dead and 42 wounded after a gunman wielding an assault-type rifle and a handgun took hostages and opened fire inside a popular, crowded Florida nightclub. The suspect died in a gunfight with SWAT officers. Florida Department of law Enforcement spokesman Danny Banks said during a news conference that the mass shooting is being investigated as an act of terrorism. Investigators are looking into whether it was domestic or international.
Police say there was apparently no personal connection between singer Christina Grimmie and the man who drove 100 miles to shoot the former participant on “The Voice” following an Orlando concert. Grimmie died and the shooter, Kevin Loibl, killed himself during a struggle with the victim’s brother.
