PERRY, Kan. (KSNT) — The victims in an accident that killed four people on US-24 near Perry on Sunday have now been identified.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a 1995 Ford Ranger Pickup was traveling westbound on U.S. 24 when it left the roadway onto the north shoulder and over corrected, traveling back across the highway and into the eastbound lanes striking a 2001 Ford Windstar Minivan when a family of five inside.
Emergency crews arrived on the scene around 3:20 p.m. with the highway being shutdown for several hours. The driver of the pickup, identified as 56-year-old Ronald D. Heston, of Oskaloosa and three occupants in the minivan, identified as 35-year-old Travis D. Askew, 27-year-old Ashley A Askew and 6-month-old Haley R. Askew, all from Basehor died in the crash.
Three-year-old Lilly Askew and 5-year-old Linda Askew were hurt in the crash. They were taken to the hospital; one by air and one by ambulance.
KHP is currently investigating the crash.
