ASSARIA, Kan. (KSNW) — Authorities are investigating the death of Saline County woman as a homicide.
A relative found the body of 57-year-old Lori Heimer on Saturday night near Assaria.
There are a lot more questions than answers at this point as officials try and piece together just what happened on Saturday leading up to Lori Heimer’s death. For now, the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the KBI, is investigating to learn more.
Officials with Saline County say Heimer was killed sometime Saturday afternoon. Later that evening, a family member came home and found her inside the home then called Salina EMS to the scene.
“Lori J. Heimer was pronounced dead at the scene by Salina EMS at 8:00 p.m. in what appears to a homicide,” said Captain Roger Soldan, Saline County Sheriff’s Office. “At that time, we contacted the KBI and asked them to respond and assist us with this investigation.”
Right now, authorities are not saying much about the investigation, including what they found at the scene or the circumstances of her death. Officials are simply asking people to be on the lookout, because at this point, they have not named a suspect in the case.
“People should always be cautious, but we’re asking people to lock their houses, be aware of their surroundings and call us if they see anything suspicious or anyone they don’t recognize in the area,” said Soldan.
Saline County officials say they expect to be on the scene through Tuesday, possibly into Wednesday.
