Police ID pedestrian killed by SUV Sunday morning in Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office have identified the person who was killed Sunday morning after being hit by an SUV.

Shawnee County Sheriff Herman Jones says that around 12:06 Sunday morning, they responded to a car pedestrian accident in the 5100 block of SW Topeka Blvd. A 2000 Ford Expedition was traveling southbound when it struck a male on foot.

The pedestrian has been identified as 36-year-old Billy J. Kalland, of Topeka. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ford was occupied by 2 adults and 6 children. Jones says none of the occupants in the vehicle were injured.

The accident is still under investigation.
