TOPEKA, Kans. (KSNT) – A flooring company in business since 1959 has announced they’ll close at the end of August.
Here is a letter from the owners of Gardner’s Flooring America Building:
“It is with mixed emotions that Renee and Tracy Gardner announce that they have received and accepted an offer on their building at 3401 South Kansas Avenue in Topeka. In light of this sale, Gardner’s Flooring America will close its business at the end of August 2016. Renee and Tracy would like to thank their loyal customers and past and current employees for the success of their company. “It’s been an honor to serve the northeast Kansas community and to work with such amazing employees over the years” said the Gardner’s. Gardner’s Floor Covering began in 1959 with Tracy and Renee’s parents, Marvin and Irene Gardner. The company initially provided installation services to numerous flooring stores and designers. Then in 1976 they built their first retail location. In 1982 the business moved to their current location on Kansas Ave. Tracy and Renee are thankful they were able to continue the legacy started by their parents, one of integrity, professionalism, craftsmanship and friendship with all their customers, employee and vendors.”
Renee Gardner told KSNT News the building has been sold to investors who plan to turn the property into a car dealership. It’s ironic, Renee said, as her parents started renting the building after it was a Volkswagon dealership.
