Lawrence police identify driver who dragged officer

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KSNT) — The Lawrence Police Department has identified the man who dragged an officer while fleeing the scene of a traffic stop.

Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Aramis Neal Hernandez, 36, for Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.

The charge comes after an incident that happened on Tuesday, where a Lawrence police officer stopped the white Ford Fusion he was driving. During the traffic stop, Hernandez fled and dragged the officer in the process.

Hernandez is 6 feet tall and weighs 180 pounds. The car he was driving has been found; it had Missouri license plates.

Anyone with information about where Hernandez may be is asked to call LPD at 785-832-7509 or Douglas County CrimeStoppers at 785-843-TIPS(8477). Calls made to CrimeStoppers can be made anonymously and callers providing information that leads to an arrest may qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
