TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Topeka police say they have arrested two more suspects in the city’s most recent homicide investigation.
The Topeka Police Department tells KSNT News 35-year-old David Laeli Jr. of Topeka, has been arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections for first degree murder.
Officers also arrested 20-year-old Joseph Gerard Cooney, from Texas, who was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections for first degree murder.
Early Saturday morning, officers and first responders arrived to SW 34th and Gage on an accident involving one vehicle that had struck a building. When officers arrived they found a silver Kia Optima that had struck 3401 SW Gage. The driver of the vehicle was the only occupant and was unresponsive inside the vehicle. First responders located an apparent gunshot wound to the victim. He was identified as Xavier McCullough, 28, of Topeka. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The first suspect in this case was apprehended Sunday. Shane Seibert, 24 years old of Topeka was booked into the Department of Corrections for first degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm by a felon. Both the victim and Seibert knew each other and a dispute preceded this incident.
