TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Big, yellow school buses will once again be rolling down the street in a few weeks – but who will be driving them?
A number of transportation positions are open across the state, something local school districts say has become an annual thing.
The Manhattan-Ogden school district has taken to social media to advertise their openings.
Michele Jones, USD 383 director of communications, says the district has also displayed signs and banners.
According to Jones, the district has gotten creative when it comes to staffing bus driving positions – telling K-S-N-T news, “many of our maintenance staff trained as drivers too.”
The Topeka Geary County school districts are also looking to fill positions.
Wayne Colwell, Durham School Services general manager, says the company is also trying to staff open jobs.
Positions with the company start at $14.00 and training is provided.
The Emporia School district is fully staffed for the upcoming school year.
