Topeka firefighters put out Tuesday morning house fire

TOPEKA (KSNT) — Topeka firefighters were working to put out a fire in North Topeka early Tuesday morning.

Crews were called to the 900 block of NE Madison Street around 2 a.m.

The caller said the fire had also spread to a nearby house. Both houses had no one inside at the time of the fire.

Firefighters on scene said they did not know what caused the fire and needed more time to investigate.

The total loss to the house is estimated at $18,330. The nearby house had damage totaling $3,500.
