MORRIS COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – K-177 will be closed Thursday after crash involving a truck carrying a wind generator tower.

It happened in Morris County Wednesday morning. The Kansas Department of Transportation said K-177 will be closed to all traffic between K-4 and US-56 Thursday. The closing was going to be Wednesday but was postponed.

Officials said the wind generator tower will need to be lifted out of the ditch and placed on a different trailer. The lift will be performed using cranes that must be placed on the highway.

The detour carrying traffic around the crash area will take southbound traffic west on I-70 to US-77 then south to US-56 then east to rejoin K-177 at Council Grove.

Northbound traffic will follow the same detour in reverse. Local traffic may substitute K-4 for I-70 in detouring around the crash site.
