Topeka Police ID victim in recent homicide

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – The Topeka Police Department have identified the victim in Monday night’s homicide.

Police say a man’s body was found in late Monday night after police were called about a shooting.

When officers arrived at 854 SE Eastgate Dr. at 11:13 p.m. they discovered an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personal.

The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Michael Gene Wilson, of Topeka.

Detectives are investigating this incident as a homicide. They say they have conducted interviews with all parties involved.

Detectives tell KSNT News the people involved in this incident knew each other. There is no anticipation of criminal charges from this incident based upon their investigation.

Reports of the investigation are being sent to the District Attorney’s Office for final charging decisions.

This marks Topeka’s 15th homicide for 2016.
