Soldier arrested after active shooter incident at Fort Campbell

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (WKRN) – A soldier was arrested after shots were fired on Fort Campbell’s base Thursday.

According to Robert Jenkins, Director of Public Affairs for Fort Campbell, it happened by the Fort Campbell Air Field.

Army officials say the post is now secure and there is no danger to the community.

Army officials then told News 2 that one soldier was subdued quickly and was arrested by military police. Neither the soldier’s identity nor the official charges has been released at this time.

No one was injured in the incident and the gates remain open.

It remains unknown what kind of weapon was fired during the incident.

Officials said weapons are secured on post, but privately owned weapons are allowed as long it is registered.

Additional information is expected to be released later Thursday.
