TOPEKA (KSNT) – With the 2016 NAHL season quickly approaching, the Topeka RoadRunners received a special workout from the Kansas Army National Guard.
“All the workouts we’re doing are called the Medal of Honor Workouts of Death,” said Sergeant 1st Class Craig A. Jackson. “A sergeant major from the Marine Corps came up with these and they’re all modeled after someone who has won the Medal of Honor, and what they’ve done to get the Medal of
The team went through a two-hour session and learned the important values of teamwork, commitment, and perseverance.
“I actually prefer when I show up to an event like this that they don’t know what’s going on because it’s a complete surprise to them,” said Jackson. “Obviously with the team that I have, a great group of soldiers, we’re really good with identifying someone that isn’t quite to the level of physical fitness, so we just do a lot of observing while we’re doing a lot of yelling.”
The RoadRunners first two exhibition games are September 6 and 7 at the Kansas Expocentre against Shreveport.
