MANHATTAN, Kan. (KSNT) – Manhattan High School believes a norovirus may be the reason why teens have been going home sick recently.
Norovirus is very contagious and something anyone can get from contaminated food, water or surfaces.
The school received a visit from the Department of Agriculture Wednesday.
They recommended the school clean bathrooms, cafeteria and surface areas with bleach.
One parent from the school says her daughter felt sick Thursday, but hopes the virus doesn’t get too extreme at the school.
“I’m guessing that they’ll do the right thing, I have good faith in the administrators at our school. They’re very conservative and very concerned about our kids’ safety,” said Kari Morgan.
Manhattan High School’s principal reminded parents despite speculation, the state and local health officials have not confirmed the cause of the illness.
