TopCon will be last con to have ‘Enterprise Bridge’

The GYPSY, Executive Director of TopCon Geek Expo, was informed on Tuesday that the Enterprise Bridge will no longer be transported to fan conventions.

Richard Wells of Starbase Studios said, “With the new licensing of the Phase 2 sets we are no longer allowed to take our sets to cons.” CBS is honoring the contract with TopCon and that is a benefit to the fans.

“This will be the last chance that fans of Star Trek will have to actually be on the bridge of an officially licensed set.” The GYPSY explains, “For some this will be a once in a lifetime experience not to be missed.”

So make your plans to attend TopCon Geek Expo 2016 on September 16, 17 & 18 at the Ramada Topeka Downtown and sit in the Captains Chair one last time.

Fifty years ago we were invited to go on a five year mission to explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations and to boldly go where no one has gone before. Yet, the mission that ended after just 79 episodes on NBC refused to go into dry dock and be decommissioned. Lacking in viewership on prime time the show that wouldn’t be phazed out found its fan base in reruns, movies and spin offs and has continued to warp drive into the minds, hearts and souls of every next generation.

Now Topeka’s very own TOPCON brings an iconic symbol of the Star Trek Universe; THE BRIDGE OF THE ENTERPRISE to TOPCON GEEK EXPO 2016 in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek.

“I cut my SyFy teeth on Star Trek.” The GYPSY Creator and Executive Director of TOPCON explains, “When I found out that we could bring this amazing representation of the Enterprise Bridge to our Fans I wasted no time in making arrangements to get it to TOPCON.”

The Bridge was built and is maintained by Starbase Studios of Oklahoma City. It is an exact replica of the NCC 1701 Bridge and Fans will have an opportunity to get up close and personal with the Captains Chair, Helm and Navigation Console. “It would be nice if we could also bring in the operations area but the logistics to do that are monumental. However, we have taken steps to create a set and back drop that should awe any Star Trek Fan.” The GYPSY says with a sly grin.

The Enterprise Bridge is just the edge of the Neutral Zone of the events that TOPCON GEEK EXPO 2016 has on the shuttle deck to celebrate STAR TREK’s 50th. From Star Trek celebrity guests to Star Trek themed activities and events TOPCON is throwing a Star Trek party that Fans won’t soon forget
