Driver arrested for involuntary manslaughter from July 4th crash

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT)  –  The driver of a car that hit and killed a woman earlier this summer was arrested Wednesday.

According to jail records 32-year-old Jason Patterson was arrested in connection with the death of 60-year-old Tara French.

The crash happened at an intersection just south of the softball diamonds on the west side of Lake Shawnee on July 4th.
French was walking on the west side of the lake when she was hit.

Patterson was arrested for second degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, drunk driving and *speeding.
He was later released on a $50,000 bond.
