Flu Clinic now underway in Capital County

Shawnee County, Kan. (KSNT) – Flu vaccinations are underway in the Capital County, one day before the start of fall. The Shawnee County Health Department announced that flu vaccines have just arrived. The SCHD began giving shots today. Anyone six months and older are able to get the vaccine. This year’s vaccination protects against 4 strains of seasonal flu. The cost is $30.00.

Shawnee County’s immunization clinic is at 2115 SW 10th. Regular clinic hours are listed below. There’s no need to make an appointment, and many insurance plans are accepted.

The flu shot is recommended to protect you against the virus which can be deadly for young children, the elderly, and those with vulnerable health conditions. The shot causes the body to develop antibodies that protect you against infection from the flu virus. The SCHD references numbers that reveal an estimated 39,000 deaths in the U.S. each year are flu-related.
