TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Local law enforcement and fire department members hit the gridiron for a good cause Sunday night.
Kansas Highway Patrol, Topeka Fire Department, Shawnee County Sheriff, and the Topeka Police Department all played football to raise money for the Special Olympics.
Last year they raised $12,000 for the Special Olympics
“It’s a fun way for the community to see us outside of work. See that we are real people. Some of us think we are football players for a day and just enjoy a day with giving back to the community thats the big thing.” Said Dan Wilson, organizer of the event.
This year marked the 13th annual Battle of the Badges.
