TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Presidential Candidate Donald Trump is under fire after remarks he made in 2005. KSNT News wanted to find out what Kansans thought of the comments.

In a conversation with Billy Bush in 2005… Presidential candidate Donald Trump can be heard saying this…

“You just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. I don’t even wait. And when you are a star they let you do it. You can do anything,” Donald Trump said in the video from 2005.

“It’s almost like a physical rape,” Mary Blessington said. “I know that sounds harsh, but the way he talked he might as well be raping women all over the place.”

“First like most everything he has been saying lately, he is a moron,” Donald Behrens Jr. said. “He obviously doesn’t take this seriously. It’s all a joke to him. It’s just as derogatory to women as most everything else he has done.”

gov-brownback-statementEven Kansas Governor Sam Brownback was appalled at the comments. Governor Brownback said in a statement, “the passage of time does not change the unacceptable language used by Donald Trump. While he has apologized, his statements remain demeaning, inappropriate, and unacceptable.”

Governor Brownback is not the only one who thinks the language is unacceptable — many republican leaders think that as well. Such as John McCain un-endorsing Trump and New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte says she will write in mike pence instead. Despite the negativity surrounding the comments, one local politician is continuing to support him.

“I don’t think it is a moral issue,” Rep. Dick Jones said. “I think it is pure dumb bravado.

“The good sense sort of rolled back and they start bragging and I think 11 years ago that is what occurred but does it deserve this much attention? No.” Rep. Jones said.

Trump says he isn’t going to drop out of the race. He tweeting earlier Saturday saying, “The media and establishment want me out of the race so badly. I will never drop out of the race, will never let my supporters down.”

The next presidential debate is Sunday night. KSNT News’ Political Analyst Dr. Bob Beatty says it will be interesting how Trump responds to the comments on the debate stage.
