Kansas driver swerves for deer before train crashes into his car

AUGUSTA, Kan. (KSNT) – A Kansas man escaped injuries after his vehicle was hit by a train two miles northeast of Augusta in Butler County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says an 18-year-old man from Augusta attempted to avoid hitting two deer just after 8:00 Sunday evening when he lost control of the 2011 Chrysler PC. The vehicle ended up on the railroad tracks and when he attempted to drive the car down the railroad tracks and got high centered.

KHP says the man saw the train approaching and was able to get out of the vehicle before it was struck by the train.

No injuries were reported.
