TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Authorities were on the scene Friday morning investigating a possible hazardous situation on the Kansas statehouse grounds.
The Kansas Highway Patrol and the Kansas Capital Police were investigating after a trash can with a hazardous label emblem on it was found on the southwest side of the statehouse near the Pioneer Woman statue.
Capital Police closed Harrison Street from 8th to 10th Street as well as 10th Street from Harrison to Jackson.
It was not believed to be a threat to the public.
The Topeka Bomb Squad responded and investigated the scene.
The scene was cleared by officers just before 11:00 a.m.
