Topeka crews battle vacant house fire

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Topeka Fire Fighters battled a massive blaze at a vacant house in central Topeka Tuesday morning.

The fire was reported around 5:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of SW Clay.

Neighbors reported hearing a loud boom before seeing the flames.

At one point flames leaped above the tree line and even set fire to one of the trees.

Crews had the fire mostly out in an hour and continued to monitor hot spots through the morning.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
