House explosion leaves Kansas woman in critical condition

LINCOLN COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – An explosion that blew apart a Lincoln County house and sent a woman to the hospital is under investigation. It happened at 647 North 290th Road near Beverly around 7:30 this morning.

Lincoln County Sheriff Mike Weigel EMS and fire crews arrived to find what remained of the home on fire.

A 57-year-old woman inside the home was airlifted to a Wichita hospital for treatment. She was listed in critical condition.

“I think it’s probably a miracle she’s alive. It sounds like she’s probably going to be alright,” Sheriff Weigel said.

A neighbor told KSN News that he went down to the scene after he heard the explosion. He found the woman outside waving her arms for help.

Sheriff Weigel said the explosion could be heard from 20 miles away. He went on to say that the Kansas State Fire Marshal has been called to investigate the cause of the explosion.

Black Hills Energy was at the scene Wednesday assisting in the investigation.
