Wichita man pleads guilty after feeding a toddler an octopus

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A man accused of feeding a 2-year-old boy a small octopus has pled guilty.

Matthew Gallagher, 37 of Wichita, pled guilty to an amended charge of endangering a child and additional charges of battery and interference with law enforcement. All are misdemeanors.

Gallagher entered his plea this morning in Sedgwick County District Court before Judge Ben Burgess. The judge followed the sentencing recommendation and placed Gallagher on probation for 24 months with an underlying sentence of 12 months in jail.

Gallagher’s jury trial on a felony charge of aggravated endangering a child was scheduled to begin on Nov. 7.
