Man accused of stealing Joyland clown pleads no contest to theft

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The man accused of stealing Louie the Clown and other items from the owners of Joyland Amusement Park has pled no contest to one consolidated felony count of theft. Damian Mayes’ jury trial was scheduled to start this morning. On Friday, Mayes, 41 years old, pled no contest before District Court Judge Harold Flaigle.

Mayes is serving a prison sentence for aggravated criminal sodomy and aggravated indecent liberties out of Harvey County.

District Court Judge Kevin O’Connor is scheduled to sentence Mayes on the theft charge December 13th.
