1 person recovering after early morning shooting in Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – One man is recovering in the hospital Thursday morning after being shot.

The Topeka Police Department reports at 2:12 a.m. officers were sent to a residence in the 5200 block of SW 31st Street, just south of 29th and Fairlawn in Topeka, in reference to a shooting that had just occurred.

When officers arrived they found an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside the residence.

Police tell KSNT News the victim was transportedd to an area hospital with injuries expected to not be life threatening.

K9 units responded to attempt to locate the suspect or suspects and evidence. Police say it appeared the suspect(s) fled the area in an unknown description vehicle after the shooting.

Detectives and Crimes Scene Investigators are currently on scene gathering evidence and information.

Police say this investigation is ongoing.
