JORDAN (ABC NEWS, KSNT) – A Lawrence man is one of three U.S. military service men killed by gunfire on Friday at a military base in Jordan.
According to ABC News, 27-year-old Staff Sgt. Matthew C. Lewellen was shot with two other service men after approaching the gates to King Faisal military base. The Jordanian military said the car did not stop at the gates as directed, causing gunfire to erupt.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
The other two men were 30-year-old Kevin J. McEnroe of Arizona and 27-year-old James. F. Moriarty of Texas.
