TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – A suspicious device inside a vehicle led statehouse capitol police to call for the Topeka police bomb squad unit.
A spokesman for capitol police says one of its officers pulled over a pickup truck for not having a license tag. It was later discovered the man had a misdemeanor warrant from Topeka police. He was taken into custody.
While officers were checking out the truck, they found what looked to a small device under the seat that looked like a pipe bomb.
The bomb squad was called to investigate. The device was taken to another location where it was rendered safe.
KSNT News was told the device was the size of a toilet paper cylinder with firecracker powder in it.
