TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Athletes of all skill levels took to the stairs in Topeka Saturday.
The city played host to its fifth annual Tower and Tough Tower runs this morning.
Both running events saw runners pushed to their limits as they climbed to the top of the Topeka tower.
One runner made his way to the capital city competition from Florida – telling KSNT news, “I’m a competitive stair climber currently ranked 30th in the US and 23rd in the world and I noticed it was a short climb.”
The runner, who finished among top races, will climb to the top of the Empire State building in New York City as part of a similar competition next year.
All proceeds raised through the climb will go to benefit free community events in downtown Topeka.
