Emporia State draws home playoff matchup with Minnesota-Duluth

(ESU Athletics) – For the second straight year and third time in the last four seasons, the Emporia State football team will be going to the NCAA Playoffs. For the first time in school history the Hornets will play host to an NCAA Playoff game as they entertain Minn.-Duluth. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19 on Jones Field at Welch Stadium.

This is the fourth post season appearance for Emporia State in the last five years, and their three playoff berths is second only to Northwest Missouri among MIAA schools over the last six years. The Hornets are 44-15 over the last five years and have won a school record ten straight games. They have won 21 games over the last two years, the best two year span in school history.

The last time Emporia State hosted a postseason game was in the 1989 NAIA Playoffs when they defeated Harding 32-9. They are 1-1 all-time in playoff games in Welch Stadium having lost to Adams State 14-10 in 1988.
