MELVERN, Kan. (KSNT) – The Osage County Sheriff’s Office says at 3:30 Monday morning they received a 911 call reporting a break in at a residence in Melvern.
It was reported that one person had been stabbed and the suspect had fled from the scene.
The suspect was located a short time later and taken into custody without incident. He was identified as 35-year-old Jason Steele, of Kansas City, Kansas. Steele was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital and treated for injuries received during confrontation with one of the victims. Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn says he is now being housed at the Osage County Jail. He is being held on aggravated burglary, aggravated battery and several other charges.
One of the homeowners was also transported to Stormont Vail Hospital, the homeowners condition was not considered life threatening. Another homeowner received minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
This is currently an active investigation by Osage County Sheriff’s Office.
