JUNCTION CITY, Kan. (KSNT) – A Junction City woman and her two kids were killed in a crash Tuesday morning near Junction City.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a commercial truck, driven by 42-year-old Steven Wayne Johnson, of Houston, Texas, was traveling eastbound on I-70 near Junction City when at about 10:49 a.m. the truck entered the median and came onto the westbound lanes striking a 2006 Ford Five Hundred driven by Jessica Michelle Thompson, 26, of Junction City. The crash occurred at mile marker 300.2, about 6 miles east of HIghway 77. Both vehicles came to a rest in a ditch north of the highway.
KHP says Jessica and her 5-year-old daughter Leah Michelle Thompson were both killed in the crash. Jessica’s 6-year-old-son Jaydon was taken to Wesley Hospital where he later died. Jessica and her kids were all wearing seat belts.
The truck driver, Steven Johnson was not injured in the crash. KHP says he was not wearing a seat belt.
