Topeka Zoo’s lemur diagnosed with liver cancer

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – The veterinary staff says a lemur at the Topeka Zoo is dealing with liver cancer and may not live much longer.

Vets  found the cancer in a routine annual exam earlier this month for Tex, a 31-year-old black and white ruffed lemur.

They tell KSNT News his discomfort is being managed with medications.

Tex was born at the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, Texas. He came to the Topeka Zoo in 1995 and has lived there since.

Tex has been a long time member of the Topeka Zoo family and is a favorite to many zoo visitors.
