TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Local farmers may want to pay attention to work taking place at Kansas State University.

University researchers believe farms could be at risk of failure.

KSNT news spoke to faculty within the schools agricultural economics department, with farmers in mind and learned exactly what they’re doing to help protect their business from the affects of an economic downturn they’ve said could rival one seen in the 1980’s.

Outlines provided by the university showed Kansas Farm Management association farms recorded major drops in net farm income in 2015 — down more than 95% from what it was in 2014.

The university will sponsor several sessions around the state beginning December 7 and lasting until February.
