TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Four years for free at a private college. That’s what students in two counties were told Thursday… That they can attend Bethany College in Lindsborg…for free!
Bethany president says the idea of the ‘Bethany Good Life Scholarship’ came about over the summer. Doctor Jones says for the next 5 years any students that graduate from Saline or McPherson County High Schools and are accepted to Bethany will receive a full tuition scholarship. The scholarship is valued at $110,000 dollars. This has generated quite a buzz for students.
“I was shocked, I was thinking about going to Bethany, but I really haven’t decided yet and now that I have that opportunity, a lot of money, I’m for sure going to take that offer,” Kate Bellah, a senior at Smoky Valley High School said about the scholarship.
Doctor Jones says those who accept the scholarship will only be on the hook for paying for room and board. They’ll also be required to live on-campus all four years. There are five residence halls on campus with just under 600 rooms. The college currently has over 700-students and could see an increase. The president says there will be enough space to house more students.
