WELLINGTON, Kan. (AP) — Authorities have identified four people killed in a two-vehicle accident in southern Kansas.

The Wichita Eagle reports the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims Monday as Carl Waugh Jr., Marcia Waugh, Timothy Baumgartner and Cheryl Baumgartner.

The crash happened Saturday night on U.S. 81 north of Wellington. The sheriff’s office says Carl Waugh was crossing oncoming traffic while attempting to turn onto a road when his car crashed nearly head-on into the Baumgartners’ car north of Wellington.

The four Wellington-area residents were dead when authorities arrived. Carl and Marcia Waugh were both 77 while Timothy and Cheryl Baumgartner were both 60.
