TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – City council members will discuss raising their pay Tuesday night.
Capital city leaders are set to gather in their chambers at 6:00 p.m. to talk about the possibility of doubling their pay for the first time since 2005.
Mayor Larry Wolgast would also cash a bigger check if the move is eventually approved.
Currently, the mayor takes home $20,000.00 a year.
Under the proposal, Wolgast would rake in $40,000.00 for his service
Council members are also to set to discuss the proposal of an ordinance that would see raises on the table every four years, preventing a lull in increasing pay.
The ordinance would allow for adjustments based on consumer price index.
