2 dogs rescued from Sunday night structure fire

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Topeka fire officials are investigating a fire that happened just after 9:00 Sunday night.

The Topeka Fire Department responded to a report of a car fire in an attached garage in the location of 3644 SW 15th Street.  When crews arrived they found the two story wood framed home heavily involved with fire.  Crews were able to search and confirm nobody was in the structure but did find and successfully rescue two dogs.

The garage and the house were mostly destroyed says one neighbor.  He tells KSNT News the entire second floor was engulfed in flames and burned almost completely while the downstairs sustained a great deal of damage.

Officials say juvenile was transported from the scene for injuries not related to the fire.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined though early investigation indicates more likely than not it was associated with the electrical malfunction of a motor vehicle.
